Course Outcomes:

 Basic Texts: 1) Pancatantra 2) Kumarasambhava

 Module I Origin and development of Kavya literature in Sanskrit – divisions of Kavya – different forms of poetry – definition of Mahakavya – Pancamahakavyas – prominent writers and their works.

 Module II History of prose literature in Sanskrit - special features of Pancatantra 

Module III Srgaladundubhikatha from Mitrabheda and Manibhadrasreshthivrttanta from Apariksitakaraka of Pancatantra.

 Module IV Kumarasambhava – Canto V (Brahmacaripravesa– Verses 30 to 82)

 All the portions given are for intensive study. 

Evaluation : Internal - : (i) Assignment /Seminar presentation from Unit I. (ii) Continuous evaluation. 

 External - : End semester examination.
